My wife and I bought this car in Chile to travel around South America. We are currently driving to Quito, Ecuador where we plan to end our trip and sell the car between late-May to late June. As the car is registered in Chile, it would need to be returned to Chile at some point (either to use personally or sell to a local buyer). I am not an expert on the laws but my understanding is that the registration cannot be easily transferred to another country. I have found people who can manage the title transfer process from Chile while the physical transfer takes place in Ecuador (you do not need to be a Chilean citizen or permanent resident to do this, just a RUT).
Due to the logistics involved with this purchase, I have tried to over-communicate the details about the car and I will be happy to answer any questions from interested buyers.
Note: The car currently has 83,300 kilometers on the odometer, but it will be a little higher by the time of sale.
The Jimny is a fun and reassuring car for exploring South America. In our travels through South America we have encountered all types of tricky terrain: thick mud, snow, giant potholes, windy gravely roads, and steep hills. The Jimny has performed outstandingly in all occasions, which should give you peace-of-mind for your trip planning. Also, we have navigated cities with narrow roads, tight parking spaces, and chaotic traffic. The Jimny’s compact shape has made us grateful that we didn’t have a larger 4wd vehicle. Our Jimny is in great condition, and has been treated very well. We have really loved this car and we hope the next owner will too!
Car quirk: It is a very small car! My wife and I like to say it’s good for 2 people with luggage, or 4 people without. But the roof-rack offers a little more flexibility to increase storage capacity. And (if you didn’t know) the seats can lay down fully to create a flat surface for car camping.
Car quirk: It is a simple car. It just has the basics, with the fanciest features being the cruise control and support for Apple CarPlay. If you’re looking for cup holders, seat warmers, electric seat adjusters, backup sensors, and great sound insulation then the Jimny isn’t the car for you. But that’s also what gives the Jimny its charm.
The Jimny was purchased pre-owned on January of 2023 with 38,500 km. The previous private owner bought the car new. I can share the original vehicle history report and tech inspection notes as requested.
Other than a handful of minor cosmetic issues (small scratches & dents in the body, 2x small repaired chips in the windshield), the vehicle is in excellent condition. Mechanically and electrically it is running as good as new. In terms of maintenance, the car has given us no issues at all, needing only scheduled service. It has been taken to authorized Suzuki service centers on-time for all regular schedule maintenance checks, and all oil and filter changes have been performed on-time. I can provide the service records upon request.
